Hello!  My name is Laura Callen, and I cannot wait to begin my 11th year of teaching at Shafer Elementary!  I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  I love teaching and building a family atmosphere in my classroom.  First grade is a magical time of learning, growing, and creating lasting friendships and memories! 

I’m a native Texan and my husband Floyd and I live on 2 acres and enjoy the peace and quiet, while watching the ducks swim in the pond.  We love football, baseball, and music.  We have a big family with lots of love and laughter!

Howdy! My name is Elizabeth Becker. I was born and raised in Houston. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business from Texas A&M University. I am excited to begin my 27th year of teaching in Katy ISD! I have taught 2nd, Kindergarten and 1st grade at Hayes, Kilpatrick, Holland and Shafer Elementary.  My passion is teaching kids to be lifelong learners with character and integrity. I love to spread positivity and to inspire children to embrace their uniqueness!

My greatest joy is being a mom to my daughter Campbell (7th grade) and stepson Robby (Sophomore @Texas A&M,Whoop!). I am married to Robert who works as a Senior Legal Investigator for Harris County. We enjoy spending time at our family ranch working cattle, horses, listening to live music and just relaxing in the country. I am looking forward to a wonderful year! Let’s have some fun! 

Hello!  My name is Kim Hansen. This is my 21st year as a public school teacher and my 12th year as a 1st Grade teacher at Shafer Elementary. 

I was born and raised in Houston and graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in Elementary Education. (Hook’em Horns!)  I’m the proud mom of three grown children.  I love the beach, spending time with family, and working in my yard.

In my classroom I strive to create not only a love for learning but a community that values kindness, empathy, joy, and respect.  I’m looking forward to a wonderful school year with you and your sweet child!

My name is Lauren Hart, and I cannot wait to begin my 7th year of teaching at Shafer Elementary and 5th year in 1st grade. I graduated from Texas A&M WHOOP!! with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Between teaching at Shafer and years prior, I have taught in first, second, third and fourth grade! Each one is uniquely special. My Shafer 1st grade classroom is filled with a love for learning while creating an environment where students feel safe, loved, and successful. We become a family in our classroom. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, be outdoors, and take naps. My husband, Charley, and I have been married for 13 years and have two sweet kiddos (Hudson-5th and Caroline-3rd) who go to Shafer and a fluffy labradoodle named Remy! I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with you and your sweet child!

My name is Stacey Holmberg.  I cannot wait to begin my 32nd year of teaching, 12 at Shafer Elementary. I will be teaching first grade this year.  I graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialty in Early Childhood!. Teaching is my passion.  I love teaching kids to read and find their own love of reading. In my free time, I love traveling with my family. I also enjoy reading and movies. I have been married for 28 years, and we have two grown sons, and one fur baby..

Hi! My name is Amy Keim, and I am excited to begin my 18th year of teaching in Katy ISD! This will be my 9th year teaching First Grade at Shafer Elementary. I love teaching the little ones and seeing their excitement for learning each day! I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing – Go Pokes! I have a wonderful husband who is a teacher at Tays Jr. High, and 2 amazing boys – Beau (6th Grade) and Camden (4th Grade).
