          • December STAAR EOC Testing Information

Fall STAAR EOC testing is December 6-9th. If a student did not receive “Approaches”, “Meets”, or “Masters” Grade Level on previously attempted STAAR exams, was absent for a scheduled STAAR exam or recently completed a course in Summer 2022 or Fall 2022, they are required to test in December 2022. An email was sent to the parents of December testers from Melanie Piché Miller, Campus Testing Coordinator, on November 14th around 2:45 pm, and a letter on blue cardstock was delivered to testers during their 3rd or 4th-period class on November 15th. Refer to the email or the letter for specific location, date, and time information that pertains to your student. Texas has moved to an online testing system. To help prepare for testing, students should log on to the sample test portal to practice using the new online testing platform prior to the day of testing. This includes the tools that are available to them online while testing. Find a device that can access the internet - computers and Chromebooks are the preferred devices to access the practice test. Refer to the flyer or email for instructions on how to access the new Cambium practice STAAR EOC test at home.

          • Secondary ELA Classroom Libraries

English Language Arts (ELA) Classroom libraries allow students immediate access to independent reading material, which supports the English Language Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Katy ISD secondary students have the option to check out books from their English teacher’s classroom library, though as of November 7, parental consent is required prior to a student being able to do so. If parents do not provide consent via the Parent Option Portal, their secondary student will be unable to check out an ELA classroom library book.

Katy ISD parents may access the KISD Option Portal to provide consent for their student to check out classroom library books by selecting the MyKaty icon on the District’s webpage, enter their parent ID and password, and then select the "KISD Option Portal" tile.  Below are screenshots of the MyKaty icon and KISD Option Portal.  Parents needing assistance in accessing their ID and password may manage their account here.  Parents who require additional assistance with accessing the application can view an instructional video here.
