          • Physical/Hard Copy Government-Issued Identifications

As Katy ISD continues its review of safety practices and protocols, it's essential to stress the significance of physical/hard copy government-issued identifications for accessing campuses/facilities, student registration, and student pickup. The district is strictly enforcing this requirement and will no longer accept paper or digital copies of driver's licenses, visas, and passports at any of its campuses or facilities, for these purposes. Katy ISD greatly appreciates the community's cooperation with these safety procedures and the ongoing partnership to maintain safe and secure environments across campuses.

          • Student Safety Survey

Senate Bill 2050, passed during the 87th legislative session, requires school districts to collect information annually through student surveys on bullying/cyberbullying and use the survey results to develop action plans to address student concerns. All Katy ISD students in 4th-12th grade are invited to participate in an online survey administered by K12 Insight.

K12 Insight manages online surveys for school districts nationwide, safeguarding the confidentiality of participants’ responses. Students will be prompted to enter their student ID numbers solely to verify student participation by campus and grade level in an effort to maintain data integrity. K12 Insight will not provide Katy ISD or any outside party with data that connects a participant to his or her survey responses.

During the survey window of February 20th – March 8th, a date will be selected for students to complete the survey during their Reading Language Arts (RLA) class.  RLA teachers will be notified of any students who have opted out of taking the survey.  We encourage your child to participate as their feedback is important to us and is valuable for campus planning.

Participation in the survey is voluntary. Parents and guardians may opt their child out of participation by logging in to MyKaty and selecting the KISD Option Portal icon. The opt-out deadline is February 9, 2024.

Click here to review the survey https://www.katyisd.org/Page/10092

          • Vaccine Update for 6th Grade Parents

Is your child 11 years old? Has it been 5 years since their last DTap? If you answered yes to one or both questions, your child should be eligible to receive their MCV4 (Meningitis) vaccine and/or Tdap Booster. State law requires one dose of the meningococcal conjugate (MCV4) vaccine and a dose of the tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine for students in 7th-12th grades. The full vaccine requirements for 7th grade students can be found on the DSHS Immunization Unit website at https://www.dshs.texas.gov/immunize/school/. We also want to remind you to get your child’s vaccinations early— before the busy back-to-school season. Getting your child vaccinated not only protects your child’s health, but also that of the community.

We will distribute $30 Colt Cash to our 6th graders that provide the clinic a copy of their updated vaccine record that includes both vaccinations. “Colt Cash” is a campus incentive system in which students can trade their “cash” in for prizes.  Students will have until Friday, December 15th to receive $30 Colt Cash. After this date, any records turned in will receive $15 Colt Cash.

Let’s prep early for 7th grade to begin the 24-25 school year on the right foot!

If you have any questions about vaccines, please consult your healthcare provider. You can also email the clinic nurse kristinediaz@katyisd.org or clinic aide gabrielamrivas@katyisd.org a scanned copy of your child’s records. Please remind your student to visit the clinic to pick up their Colt Cash should you decide to email. If you have any questions, call us at 281.234.0626. The clinic is open M-F 8:20p – 4:20p.

Thank you for your help with this and continuing to keep your child and our community safe!
