My name is Hannah Brassell, and I cannot wait to begin my 4th year of teaching Kindergarten at Shafer Elementary. I graduated from Sam Houston State University! (Eat Em Up Kats!) In my classroom, I strive to foster a love for reading while creating an environment where students feel safe, loved, and successful. In my free time, I love strolling the aisles of Hobby Lobby and Home Goods, or really shopping anywhere, spending time with family and friends, and decorating!  I also love watching and cheering on the Houston Astros! My husband and I have been married for six years and have two sweet pups named Pecas and Cooper.  I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with you and your sweet child!

Hi! My name is Kristie Hale, and I am excited to begin my 27th year of teaching. I am starting my 9th year at Shafer Elementary. In my free time, I love to bake cookies, go shopping, or watch movies.   My husband and I have 2 children.  Both of our children are in college. My name is Emily Hamilton. This is my 11th year teaching in Katy ISD. I graduated from Texas A&M-WHOOP!- with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. 

I have been married to my husband for 6 years. We have 3 year old son, Andrew, and a 3 year old cat named Goose.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. We also love the outdoors-fishing, boating, the beach. I am an avid reader & movie watcher.
I think children learn best when they feel safe and I am excited for our classroom to be a fun & safe space for them. I cannot wait to see my students grow emotionally, socially & academically.

Hi, my name is Katie Black. This is my 11th year in education and my 5th year in Katy ISD. I graduated from NMHU with a degree in elementary education with a minor and early childhood. I've been married for 21 years and have 5 amazing children. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, reading, watching movies, and cheering on my kids in their many sports activities. I am looking forward to an amazing school year!

Hello! My name is Maddie Madrigal. I was born and raised in Katy and recently graduated from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. As a new teacher, I am excited about the opportunity to start my career in the outstanding school district that gave me a strong foundation. Becoming a kindergarten teacher has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. In my free time, I love to travel, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with friends and family. I am eager to meet my sweet students and begin this new journey! Fun Fact: My mom is also a teacher at Shafer :)

My name is Judy McNichol, and I am excited to begin my 23rd year of teaching.   I graduated from the University of Houston. (Go Coogs!)  My husband and I have a 12 year old son who will be in 7th Grade. We have 2 Brittany rescue pups, Maggie and Ollie.  In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, taking naps, eating yummy food, baking and crafting.  In my classroom, I strive to create a loving environment where the kids feel safe and secure so they can learn and grow. I look forward to an amazing year with you and your sweet child!

My name is Marcie Payne.  This is my second year as a Kindergarten teacher at Shafer.  I have been in education for 7 years.  I began as a special education paraprofessional at Shafer, and I am excited to be on the awesome kinder team. 

I have two children, who both attend high school in Katy ISD, and I have been married for almost 19 years to my wonderful husband Tom.  We also have one furry friend named Scout.

When I am not at Shafer, I love watching football and traveling. My teams that can hear me cheering are my son’s high school team,  the Aggies, and anyone playing the Cowboys (HAHA!). We love to do road trips!  We have driven to Grand Lake,  New Orleans, Orlando, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Nashville, and Key Largo.  It is amazing all the sites when we are on the road.  Family Fun Time!  I am looking forward to a fantastic year and getting to know all my students.

Hello! My name is Judith Weller. This will be my 4th year at Shafer and 12th year in Education. I graduated from Baylor University, Sic’em!, then spent the next 8 years being a Marine Corp wife. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 21 years and we have 4 amazing and wild kiddos and 2 dogs. Savannah will be starting her freshman year of college at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Scarlett will be a junior at Jordan HS, Jace will be a freshman at Jordan HS and Jake will be in 7th grade at Seven Lakes JH. We love to spend our time traveling, outdoors and in the water. Family is everything to me and I consider my classroom my home away from home and your children as my own.  I strive to fill my classroom with laughter, love and learning, but I know that there may be tears along the way and that’s okay, we will share those moments too. I can not wait to get to know your child and grow their love for learning!

Before PK I spent four years in Special Education. I have an Associate’s degree in General Education. PK is my happy place, I enjoy helping your child learn and grow, I can’t wait for the many adventures we will have. In my free time, I love anything outdoors and spending as much time as I can with my family.
