I began my career 19 years ago in Cy-Fair ISD as a second-grade teacher. During my tenure at Cy-Fair, I also served as a dyslexia intervention teacher and reading interventionist. In 2008, I had the pleasure of opening Morton Ranch Elementary as a classroom teacher. In my 6 years at MRE, I served in various positions, including second-grade teacher, first-grade teacher, reading intervention teacher, team leader, and instructional coach. I have also had the pleasure of serving as an assistant principal at Alexander Elementary as well as a Katy Summer Academic Term (KSAT) Principal. My last position was at Keiko Davidson Elementary as an Assistant Principal, where I served the Pine Mill Ranch community for four years. Shafer’s motto of inspiring all students to shine bright, with education and character mirrors my deeply held beliefs as both an educator and parent. It is my belief and experience that all students can learn and excel at the highest levels with the appropriate support, leadership, and authentic learning experiences. I am excited to lead Shafer Elementary. Together, great things will happen at Shafer Elementary!

My name is Jennifer Musselman and I cannot wait to begin my 17th year in education! This will be my 7th year at Shafer Elementary as an Assistant Principal.  I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Learning and Development.  I furthered my education with a Master’s in Educational Leadership from University of St. Thomas in Houston.  I strive to build relationships with all my students, families and teachers.  I believe that all students can be successful with the collaboration of teachers and parents.  In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband and two daughters.  We love to relax in our pool, watch movies and play games as a family.  I’m a big foodie and love trying out new restaurants.  I am looking forward to a wonderful school with you and your child!

My name is Hannah Mikulenka and I am the Counselor at Shafer Elementary. This will be my 3rd year as a counselor at Shafer Elementary and 7th year in education. I graduated from Texas A&M University with my Master’s in Educational Psychology and my Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies. In my free time, I love to spend time enjoying the beach, fishing, and with my family.

My name is Heidi Hartings. This will be my third year at Shafer Elementary. I recently graduated with a masters in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and have a bachelors in elementary education from the University of New Orleans. New Orleans is my hometown. Who Dat! My passion is to spread the joy of reading to all students. In my free time, I love spending time with my family, gardening, or doing anything active. I look forward to reading and writing with all the students in our kingdom!

I graduated from Baylor University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s in Education. Sic ‘Em! I taught first and fourth grade in Fort Bend ISD for seven years. Then, I had the opportunity to move to Katy and helped open Shafer in 2012 as a fifth grade teacher. After teaching four years in the classroom, I became Shafer’s Math & Science Instructional Coach. I have the honor of working closely with campus teachers focusing on instructional guidance aligned with our district’s math and science curriculum. My passion is to collaborate with, support, and learn alongside teachers to support student learning. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and spending time outdoors with my husband and our two boys. 

My name is Stephanie Collado, and I cannot wait to begin another great year at Shafer Elementary as the Instructional Coordinator.  I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Learning and Development.  I went on to receive a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler.  In my free time, I enjoy traveling, trying new foods, and exploring the outdoors at our many beautiful state and national parks.  I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!

My name is Laura Otterson and this is my third year at Shafer Elementary as Principal’s Secretary.  My husband and I moved to Katy 25 years ago to raise our two amazing children that graduated from University of Houston.  Go Coogs!  I love being outdoors and spending time with family, friends, and our 2 rescue Boxers.

My name is Amber Broussard and I will be starting my 8th year at Shafer Elementary as the receptionist. I love greeting the children as they walk through  the doors. I am married and have 2 boys. In my free time I love watching sports,reading and spending time with family and friends. I am excited to start this new school year and can not wait to see all of the kiddos!

My name is Melanie Fulkerson. I am starting my 5th year as the financial clerk at Shafer Elementary School. Before taking on the position of financial clerk, I was lucky enough to substitute teach exclusively at Shafer for five years! This allowed me the opportunity to get to know a lot of the students at Shafer! I was even able to watch some of them grow up from kindergarten thru 5th grade! I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s in Business Management. I have two amazing children, Olivia and Trevor! Olivia will be going into 11th grade and Trevor will be going into 9th grade. I love hanging out with my family and cuddling with my dog, Conroe and two cats, Luna and Mocha. I’m looking forward to a great school year!

My name is Siera Whitely, and I love working here at Shafer Elementary!  I am married with 6 amazing kids!  I am excited to see our Shafer families walk through the front office this year!

My name is Pamela Burch and this is my first year officially working on staff. I started out on the PTA board for 5 years and substitute taught exclusively at Shafer for 2 years. I am excited to get to see these kids walk through these doors daily. I am married and have 2 children, a boy and a girl that have also come to Shafer. I’m glad to be here and can’t wait for an amazing year.

I am Ms. Sosa Shafer Knights Campus Nurse.. I have been a Shafer Knight since the school opened in August of 2012. I am excited and looking forward to seeing our students walk through our doors. I am here for any medical needs that our students may have. I am looking forward to another great year.

My name is Kim Spring. This is my Fourth year at Shafer Elementary as the Clinic Aide.  I really enjoy greeting the students in the morning as they come into the building.  I also enjoy taking care of all the students.  I have been married to my husband Grant for 16 years and we have 2 daughters Reagan (14) and Morgan (7).  I also have a new puppy Toby. He is an Australian Shepard. In my spare time I am either reading or riding my bike outside.  I also enjoy watching and supporting my kids in their activities outside of school.
