• Support Staff

In the Katy ISD TEA+CH Alternative Certification Program, prioritizing the success of first-year Intern TEA+CHers is our focus. Throughout the internship, intern teachers will receive guidance and support from mentor teachers and field supervisors, ensuring they have the feedback and resources necessary to thrive in the classroom. Additionally, each Katy ISD campus has an instructional coach to provide job-embedded professional learning.

For further details on the support provided by mentor teachers and field supervisors during the first year as a Katy ISD Intern TEA+CHer, please refer to the information below.

  • Mentor Teachers

All Intern TEA+CHers will be assigned a Mentor Teacher who plays a pivotal role in their development. The Mentor Teacher, who is on the same campus and holds a teaching certificate in the same certification category, will meet monthly with the intern to discuss concerns and strategies for addressing them. They will also attend designated District mentor training sessions together throughout the intern year. Weekly check-ins will focus on refining strategies for classroom management, organization, evaluation, curriculum development, and delivery.

  • Field Supervisors

Field Supervisors play a crucial role in our program by providing coaching, feedback, and conducting observations to monitor Intern TEA+CHer performance. Throughout the internship, Field Supervisors will conduct 6 informal observations and 5 formal observations. These assessments are aimed at evaluating intern performance, tracking their development, and offering guidance to support their success in their roles.
