Katy and Tompkins High Schools Earn State Awards in FFA Competition

KATY, TX [December 19, 2024] – The FFA chapters from Katy and Tompkins high schools walked away state champions at this year’s State Leadership Development Event, held earlier this month at Sam Houston State University.

Katy High School earned the top prize in the Chapter Agricultural Quiz, and Tompkins High School won first in the Greenhand FFA Quiz.

“We are so proud of Katy and Tompkins for earning first place in their respective competitions,” said Jeannie Knierim, Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Katy ISD. “Congratulations to all our students who placed and participated in the state competition.”

In addition to those first-place wins, several Katy ISD FFA chapters also placed in the competition, and those results include:

Cinco Ranch High School

  • 2nd Place in Greenhand Spanish Creed Speaking
  • 3rd Place in Senior Chapter Conducting
  • 5th Place in Greenhand Creed Speaking and Greenhand Chapter Conducting
  • 6th Place in Public Relations
  • 7th Place in FFA Broadcasting

Katy High School

  • 3rd Place in Greenhand Chapter Conducting
  • 5th Place in Agricultural Advocacy
  • 7th Place in Senior Chapter Conducting
  • 9th Place in Agricultural Issues

Morton Ranch High School

  • 3rd Place in Greenhand Spanish Creed Speaking
