​Arthur O. Miller

Miller Career & Technology Center was originally named Arthur Miller Career Center in honor of the life-long contributions Arthur Oliver Miller made to the Katy schools and community. 

Miller demonstrated a sense of civic responsibility through the many offices he held over the years: In 1946, he was part of the first governing body of Katy, serving dually as city secretary and treasurer, then as mayor for sixteen years from 1947 to 1963, and was elected a municipal judge in 1979, serving for ten years. 

Besides owning the local Chevrolet dealership for many years, Miller operated a service station, an appliance company and a petroleum company. He supported Katy schools by donating trucks to the Katy High School FFA agriculture teachers with little to no compensation. And, he routinely found "good deals" on appliances for high school homemaking teachers, among many untold acts of generosity.  

A.O. Miller was a dedicated contributor to and supporter of Katy, and MCTC is proud to bear his name.
