    PurposeFULL People from Character Strong creates a school culture that embodies a child’s social, emotional and character development simultaneously. The vertically aligned lessons and activities are research-based and teach Responsible Decision-Making, Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Self-Management, and Relationship Skills.  During the school year, we will focus on the following key character traits: cooperation, respect, courage, gratitude, kindness, honesty, empathy, responsibility, perseverance, and creativity. The students' academic success will be positively affected by supporting social emotional health as well as building relationships and preparing students for the future.  
     
     

    PurposeFULL People from Character Strong crea una cultura escolar que fomenta el desarrollo social, emocional y del carácter de un niño simultáneamente. Las lecciones y actividades alineadas de acuerdo a la edad se basan en investigaciones y enseñan habilidades de toma de decisiones responsables, de autoconciencia, de conciencia social, de autogestión y de relaciones.  Durante el año escolar, nos centraremos en los siguientes rasgos clave del carácter: cooperación, respeto, coraje, gratitud, amabilidad, honestidad, empatía, responsabilidad, perseverancia y creatividad. El éxito académico de los estudiantes se verá afectado positivamente al apoyar la salud socio-emocional, así como al construir relaciones y preparar a los estudiantes para el futuro.
     
     

    National Bullying Prevention Month

    Mes nacional para prevención de acoso.
    October is the month when Katy ISD educates students about anti-bullying through the use of videos and lessons.
    Durante el mes de octubre, Katy ISD educa a los estudiantes sobre la prevencion de los abusadores a través de lecciones y videos.
     
     

    Red Ribbon Week 

    Semana del listón rojo
    October 23-31. This week consists of activities and dress-up days to promote drug prevention.
    De octubre 23 al 31 será la semana para promover la prevención del uso de drogas a través de diferentes actividades y días para vestir de forma especial.
     
     

    Classroom Counselor Lessons

    Lessons are provided for students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade on a variety of topics including respect, responsibility, friendship, trustworthiness, honesty, courage, honor, forgiveness, reporting vs. tattling and others, etc...

    PurposeFULL People Students of the Month are invited to join me in small groups in my room!  We chat about a variety of topics including what they like to do when they are not at school, favorite subjects, pets, or whatever they want to talk about, giving us a chance to get to know each other in a more informal setting.

    PurposeFULL People ¡Los estudiantes del mes están invitados a acompañarme en grupos pequeños en mi salón!  Charlamos sobre una variedad de temas, incluido lo que les gusta hacer cuando no están en la escuela, temas favoritos, mascotas o cualquier cosa de la que quieran hablar, dándonos la oportunidad de conocernos en un ambiente más informal.

    PALS (Peer Assistance Leadership)

    ALS is a mentoring program in which a high school student is paired with an elementary student to serve as a positive role model.  Students can be nominated for a PAL for a variety of reasons.  Our partner school is Mayde Creek High School.  
    PALS es un programa de tutoría en el que estudiantes de preparatoria se emparejan con un estudiante de primaria para que sirva como un modelo positivo.  Los estudiantes pueden ser nominados para un PAL por diversas razones.  Nuestra escuela está asociada con la preparatoria Mayde Creek High School. 

     

     

    KEYS (Keep Encouraging Youth Toward Success)

    KEYS is a district program in which model adults can apply to mentor students on elementary, junior high, or high school campuses. If you are interested in becoming a KEYS mentor at BCE or any other Katy ISD campus, please visit the district website to apply. 

     If you want to register as a volunter for KISD you might register here.
    KEYS es un programa del distrito en el que adultos modelo pueden postularse para ser mentores de estudiantes en escuelas primarias, secundaria o preparatoria. Si está interesado en convertirse en mentor de KEYS en BCE o en cualquier otro campus de Katy ISD, visite el sitio web del distrito para presentar su solicitud.

    Backpack Buddies

    This is a program offered by the Houston Food Bank in which families in need might register to receive one backpack with groceries a week. Families can register during enrolment period.
    Este programa es ofrecido por el Houston Food Bank. Es para apoyar a las familias que necesiten ayuda con alimentos. Las familias pueden registrarse durante el tiempo de inscripción.

     

     

    Santa Cops

    Santa de los Policías

     

    This program is offered for families with real needs who might be struggling to meet basic needs and might not be able to provide presents for Christmas. It is based on teacher's and counselor recommendations. It is only available during the short period of request.

    Unfortunately there are a very limited of sponsors available to support this program. 
    Este programa se ofrece para las familias que tienen verdadera necesidad y que tal vez estén con dificultades para cubrir las necesidades básicas y que muy probablemente no puedan comprar regalos de navidad. Este programa se ofrece por recomendación de los maestros y la consejera. Además solo esta disponible durante el corto tiempo de solicitud.
    Desafortunadamente solo nos ofrecen un número limitado de solicitudes.
