    My counseling mission is to build a community, advocating and supporting all learners with guidance, responsive services, individual counseling, responsive systems, and the collaboration of all staff members and stakeholders, facilitating students’ socio-emotional, academic, and career development.

    My vision is to be able to create a safe and supportive environment provided by all staff and stakeholders, so all students become successful scholars and citizens.

    Mi misión de consejería es construir una comunidad defendiendo y apoyando a todos los estudiantes con orientación, servicios receptivos y la colaboración de todos los miembros del personal, facilitando el desarrollo socio-emocional, académico y profesional de los estudiantes. 

    Mi visión es poder crear un ambiente seguro y de apoyo proporcionado por todo el personal para que todos los estudiantes se conviertan en ciudadanos exitosos.

     

    Hello all! My name is Irma Palafox Yamamoto. I am so grateful and appreciative for the opportunity to be the new school counselor at Bear Creek Elementary! I can't wait to get to know each one of our students and families, the cougar families.

    I was born in Mexico City and became a US citizen years ago.  I have two kids. My son Francisco graduated from college and is working on the north side of the United States. My daughter Ana is in college working to become a teacher. I have taught bilingual students for 20 years in Spring Branch ISD and Katy ISD. I was always interested in the well-being of students. It is fascinating to me how the human brain develops and adapts. I am very excited about beginning my career as a counselor, implementing a Comprehensive School Counseling Program at BCE. Part of my responsibility is to teach our students basic core values that would help them to develop transferable skills relative to their educational, career, personal, and social development, so they can become productive and responsible members of our society. 

    I believe we all have the responsibility of molding our students, starting at home where the basic values are taught as a family. I am concerned about the influences of the environment and the media, which make our jobs challenging. But together we can strive to overcome those challenges.

    ¡Hola a todos! Mi nombre es Irma Palafox Yamamoto. ¡Estoy muy agradecida y agradecida por la oportunidad de ser la nueva consejera escolar en la Primaria Bear Creek! No puedo esperar a conocer a cada uno de nuestros estudiantes y familias, las familias de los pumas.

     

    Nací en la Ciudad de México y me convertí en ciudadano estadounidense hace años.  Tengo dos hijos. Mi hijo Francisco se graduó de la universidad y está trabajando en el lado norte de los Estados Unidos. Mi hija Ana está en la universidad trabajando para ser maestra. He enseñado a estudiantes bilingües durante 20 años en Spring Branch ISD y Katy ISD. Siempre estuve interesada en el bienestar de los estudiantes. Me resulta fascinante cómo se desarrolla y adapta el cerebro humano. Estoy muy entusiasmada de comenzar mi carrera como consejera, implementando un Programa Integral de Consejería Escolar en BCE. Parte de mi responsabilidad es enseñar a nuestros estudiantes valores fundamentales que les ayudarán a desarrollar habilidades para aplicar en su desarrollo educativo, profesional, personal y social, para que puedan convertirse en miembros productivos y responsables de nuestra sociedad. 

     

    Creo que todos tenemos la responsabilidad de moldear a nuestros estudiantes, comenzando por casa donde se enseñan los valores básicos en familia. Me preocupan las influencias del medio ambiente y los medios de comunicación, que dificultan nuestro trabajo. Pero juntos podemos esforzarnos por superar esos desafíos.
