Meet your School Counselor Mrs. Lara

My name is Juanita Lara, and I am King Elementary's School Counselor. I graduated from University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and obtained my Masters from University of Houston and a Masters in School Counseling from University of St. Thomas. I have 9 years of experience in education and this will be my 4th year working at King Elementary.

As a school counselor, my main role in the educational community is supporting students' academic, career, social and emotional development. I love providing counseling services for students to help them navigate personal challenges, develop coping strategies and build their self-esteem. 

When I am not at school, I like to spend time with my family and travel.  My family and I have lived in Katy, Texas for 7 years, and we love being part of this community. I have two amazing sons, who are 6 and 13 years old. My husband also serves the community as a Houston Firefighter and enjoys helping others. 

I am looking forward to another amazing school year in the Kingdom!
