About Wolfe Elementary

  • Maurice L. Wolfe Elementary School is a small school with a proud sense of its own history and traditions. This uniquely warm, welcoming, and supportive school has a diversity in the student population that makes it a great learning environment. Wolfe is home to students from more than 17 countries. Some of those countries are Japan, England, Germany, Iran, The Netherlands, Chile, and Argentina, to name but a few - who speak at least a dozen different languages.

Wolfe is proud of its consistent parent involvement and the continued increase in business partnerships and business volunteers. Parents, teachers, and community members work together to provide various mentoring and tutoring programs that assist children who need academic enrichment or assistance and/or encouragement and support in areas, such as social skills and/or self-esteem. Parents initiate and continue to coordinate a number of programs that have become an integral part of the instructional program. The P.E.A.R. reading program, where parents read to students in classrooms on a regular basis, is a perfect example.

Wolfe also has Family Nights which encourage parents to become actively involved in their children's education. The year starts with a Meet and Greet. There is a fall open house, a Literacy Night with a book fair, and Math and Science Night.

Some of Wolfe's annual events include the All-Star Review Talent Show, Fifth Grade Spelling Bee, Field Day, Gingerbread Week, and other classroom celebrations. Fifth graders take part in Career Takeover Day (a special day when roles are reversed and anyone might be principal for the day), and grade level completion ceremonies.
