• HJH Crafting Club

This campus club allows students to meet once a month to create a new craft project. Crafting has been shown to help reduce anxiety, alongside other general mental health benefits. The club will be hosted in the HJH Library with Mrs. Gruen, the librarian.

This year, the club meets one Friday every month (dates listed below), with two different sessions. The 8 am session meets in the library for a hands-on tutorial with adults walking students through the craft step by step. A second session will be held during ELT that day; during ELT, students who attended the morning tutorial can get more time with their craft, and students who cannot attend the 8:00 group can come to watch a video tutorial for a self-directed craft.

Attendance is not mandatory to remain in the club but the permission slip must be returned for the student to join. Also, students who attend the morning session must arrive promptly at 8:00 am; students who arrive more than five minutes late will need to wait until ELT for that day’s craft. Our instructors spend a lot of time working one-on-one with the kids, and late arrivals prevent us from finishing our tutorials on time. Active attendance rosters will be kept safe for school safety.

While students are not required to pay a club fee, donations of crafting supplies for these projects are always appreciated. You can find the club wish list at https://a.co/3we2r5A
